Introduction to Encocam (and Cellbond) - overview of company and its activities

Presentation (20 minutes total):

  1. Simon Grieve, top level equestrian eventing rider (dressage, cross-country & show-jumping). on the ("thrills" and) "spills". Brief explanation of eventing and then pics of a thrill (Burghley at the Cottesmore Leap) and his serious spill in August last year in which his air jacket and helmet saved him from serious, potentially fatal, injury.
  2. Matt Stewart, Design Engineer at Charles Owen, leading manufacturer of safety helmets. Outline of what Charles Owen have done with Cellbond honeycomb material, what it does, and how it could improve helmet safety, etc..
  3. Graham McShane, Cambridge University Engineering Dept, on his continuing research into honeycomb structures for protection against shock waves (accidental impact, explosion, etc.).

This will be followed by a tour of Encocam facilities and product developments, seeing the honeycomb manufacture process and it’s applications, and Encocam's Crash Test Dummy development and test laboratory facilities.
