Mayumi Sato

Department of Sociology

I am a PhD student in Sociology and Gates Cambridge Scholar focusing on global environmental justice. Between and during my degrees, I have worked in fields of reforestation and gender, anti-racism, educational equity, and transnational solidarities. I have several years of experience working with climate-impacted communities, such as Indigenous hill tribes, smallholders and timber processing enterprises, and land defenders across Europe, North America, and Asia. I am most interested in co-creating participatory research projects and public-facing work which can inform positive social and environmental change. I hope to develop impact-focused research and practice in collaboration with climate-affected communities globally.
