Pedro Vianez from the Department of Physics was a CSAR Student Award winner in 2021 for his work on electron behaviour in low-dimensional systems. He has recently been awarded an EPSRC Doctoral Prize to expand on his PhD work. Pedro writes "At this stage in my career this has truly been a fantastic opportunity and it has already allowed me to start my research post-PhD more independently. I believe that having been recognised by CSAR beforehand helped me strengthen my application, particularly in showing how my research could be applied to the real-world, and in that way am very thankful to the society for the opportunity provided."
